it's gonna be june
Welcome, welcome to another week of The Internet of Literal Things (Week 62, May 25, 2020).
The next time you’ll get a newsletter from me, it will be June. It’s hard to compare the length of time that the month of May occupied in my life. It may feel like it’s longer than, say, the month of April, but I wonder if that’s because I’ve spent a lot more time looking around at my surroundings. I’ve spent almost the entire past month writing three pages every morning — a word vomit of my innermost thoughts — partially to get on with the to-do list I’ve set out for myself each day, but also as a way of marking the current space I’ve been occupying and what’s been on my mind. I’m not reading the previous entries yet, and likely won’t (hopefully) for another four or five weeks. I’m enjoying this private space that even I can’t go back and overthink. If you’re interested in applying this method to your day, I highly recommend reading “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron.
